A scripting language I've been building in Python. Started as a tree-walker and grew from there — it now has a bytecode compiler, a stack VM, an optimizer, a type checker, and a decent stdlib.

Both backends produce identical output; there's a parity test suite that runs every program through both and diffs the results.

## what's in here

Language:

- C-style for/while/if-else, break/continue, short-circuit logic

- tree-walking interpreter (`sable/interpreter.py`)
- bytecode compiler (`sable/compiler.py`) + stack VM with upvalues (`sable/vm.py`)

- gradual type checker — flags clearly wrong ops, falls back to `any` otherwise
- source formatter, idempotent and round-trip safe

The suite covers the lexer, parser, resolver, both backends (parity tests included), all optimizer passes, the formatter round-trip, and the stdlib modules.
