# Installation Guide

1. Get the code

git clone https://github.com/Quacky2200/Spotify-Web-Player-for-Linux

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd Spotify-Web-Player-for-Linux

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. Official Install Script

Easy Recommended

Prerequisites

APT (Debian/Ubuntu 계열) Built into Debian/Ubuntu-based Linux distributions.

sudo apt-get install libappindicator1 libnotify4

Installs directly from the APT package repository (Debian/Ubuntu-based).

✅ After installing, open a new terminal and run the program's version command (e.g. --version) to confirm it worked.

3. Node.js

Easy

Prerequisites

Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
Node.js Node.js must be installed to use npm. The LTS version is recommended.

npm install

Downloads and installs the libraries listed in package.json.

npm start

Starts the development/run server.

✅ After running the command, open the address shown in the terminal (usually something like http://localhost:3000) in your browser.

#### If you cannot find a release, don't worry! It's easy to use with a few simple *linux only* commands...

Debian/Ubuntu/Linux Mint
```
sudo apt-get install libappindicator1 libnotify4 
```
Arch and Arch derivatives (*AUR packages maintained by twa022*)

**stable: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/spotify-web-player/**

**development: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/spotify-web-player-git/**

## Manual Install

##### Please make sure that libappindicator-1, dbus and libnotify4 packages are installed

**These commands require root priviledges (e.g. `sudo su`, `su root`)**

Make the appropriate directories
```
mkdir -p /usr/bin/spotifywebplayer/libs/electron && mkdir /usr/bin/spotifywebplayer/node_modules
```
Download the archive from GitHub
```
wget https://github.com/Quacky2200/Spotify-Web-Player-for-Linux/archive/1.0.0.tar.gz
```
Extract Spotify Web Player
```
tar -zxvf 1.0.0.tar.gz --strip 1 -C /usr/bin/spotifywebplayer
```
We must download a few prerequisites
```
sh /usr/bin/spotifywebplayer/get_prerequisites.sh
```
If you are running 32 bit, we must get these modules
```
wget https://github.com/Quacky2200/Spotify-Web-Player-for-Linux/releases/download/1.0.0/node_modules_x86.zip && unzip node_modules_x86.zip -d /usr/bin/spotifywebplayer/node_modules
```
However, if you're running 64 bit, we must get these modules
```
wget https://github.com/Quacky2200/Spotify-Web-Player-for-Linux/releases/download/1.0.0/node_modules_x64.zip && unzip node_modules_x64.zip -d /usr/bin/spotifywebplayer/node_modules
```
Create Application Icon & Application Launcher
```
cp /usr/bin/spotifywebplayer/icons/spotify.png /usr/share/pixmaps/ && printf "[Desktop Entry]\nVersion=1.0.0\nName=Spotify Web Player\nComment=Music for every moment. Make application launchable
```
chmod +x /usr/share/applications/spotifywebplayer.desktop && chmod +x /usr/bin/spotifywebplayer/spotifywebplayer
```
Launch the application with `gtk-launch spotifywebplayer` or `bash /usr/bin/spotifywebplayer/spotifywebplayer`
