# Installation Guide

1. Get the code
git clone https://github.com/codewars/codewars-runner-cli

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd codewars-runner-cli

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. Docker

Easy Recommended
Prerequisites
  • Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
  • Docker Desktop Needed to build and run containers. Install it and keep it running in the background.
docker run --rm -it --entrypoint bash codewars/node-runner

Runs the built image as an actual container.

docker-compose run node-runner

Runs the command against the services defined in the compose file.

docker run --rm codewars/node-runner run -l javascript -c "console.log('I ran inside of Docker using NodeJS')"

Runs the built image as an actual container.

docker run --rm codewars/ruby-runner run -l ruby -c "puts 'I ran inside of Docker using Ruby'"

Runs the built image as an actual container.

docker-compose run javascript -c "console.log('I ran inside of Docker using NodeJS')"

Runs the command against the services defined in the compose file.

βœ… Run docker compose ps to check the containers are Up. If the README mentions a port, open http://localhost:PORT in your browser.

3. Gradle (Java/Kotlin)

Prerequisites

  • JDK (Java) Required to build and run Java/Kotlin projects.

npm install

Downloads and installs the libraries listed in package.json.

npm start

Starts the development/run server.

5. Rust

  • Rust (rustup) Installing via rustup also installs cargo.

cd frameworks/rust/skeleton

cargo build --release

Compiles the Rust project.

cargo run

Builds and then immediately runs the program.

6. Make
