## 📖 Overview

**Reunite** is a full-stack MERN web application developed for the **Federal University Dutse (FUD)** community. It provides a **secure, centralized, and intelligent platform** for reporting, tracking, and recovering lost items.

It replaces informal systems (WhatsApp, word-of-mouth) with a **structured digital solution**, improving recovery rates and accountability.

## 🛠️ Installation & Setup

### 1. Clone the Repository

cd reunite

### 2. Backend Setup
```bash
cd backend
npm install
npm run dev
```
### 3. Environment Setup

Create a `.env` file in the `/backend` directory:

MONGO_URI=your_mongodb_uri

CLOUDINARY_NAME=your_name
CLOUDINARY_KEY=your_key
CLOUDINARY_SECRET=your_secret
```
### 4. Frontend Setup

* **Item Posting:** Validated multipart-form data handling and image uploads via Cloudinary.
* **Search Functionality:** Tested real-time filtering and keyword matching for item discovery.
* **Match Notifications:** Confirmed instant toast alerts and automated matching logic.
