This is a case for the AMD / ASRock BC250 board.

## Design goals

1. No modification to the board itself, especially the heat-sink 
2. No compromise on cooling
3. As small as possible

Additionally it'd be good if it supported both SATA 2.5" and NVME M.2 drives,
and wasn't _too_ loud.

## Results

- 5.8 liters
- Cooled (front and back) by a single 150x35mm blower fan
- Uses a FlexATX PSU (specifically I use a MetalFish 300W one, others not tested)

## Optional add-ons

- Integrated front USB hub
- Integrated internal USB hub
- PCIe switch to drive both an SSD and other PCIe hardware (i.e. WiFi) from the single BC250 NVME slot
- A Qi Wireless Charger
- A capacitive switch on the front, along with a LED light panel
- A custom PMU that drives that front switch / LED

## The PMU

The BC250 doesn't support the ATX PS/ON signal. You absolutely can just jumper the PSU
to always be on, and then use the buttons on the back of the BC250. But I wanted a
more ATX-like experience.

So part of this project is a PMU, based on a CH32V003 MCU, that handles PS/ON signal control. It's features include:

- Turning the PSU off when board turns off (due to software-driven shutdown)
- It shows up as a USB keyboard to Bazzite so the front switch can send a "keyboard power button" signal on short press
- It will turn off the PSU directly on long press
_ It also receives commands over USB too, so the light pattern can be driven from OS events (screen off, drive activity, etc.)
- (Coming soon) DS12B80 thermometer support

## Trade offs

- It's not particularly quiet
- It needs a 350mm build plate to print
- It's kind of annoying to build now.

## BOM

Warning: this is currently incomplete. The

### Core parts (always required)

- A BC250 board (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008976362329.html)
- A 150x35mm blower fan from GDS Time, Part # 15035 (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001967276292.html)
- A Metalfish FlexATX PSU. I use the 300W version, but *this can _only_ be used in 220V countries, not 110V ones*. The 500W version should also fit, but not tested. (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005010151665903.html)
- The front USB is a "ORICO Transparent Usb C Hub - Micro B version". ![Here's a photo](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/hafriedlander/bc250-case/main/images/orico_hub.png) This can be found on AliExpress bundle deals for about $US5.

### Core Vitamins

(TODO: Just a stub)

- Several parts are held together with M3 x 20mm pins. You need about 7.
- A variety of M3 and M4 bolts and inserts. In particular, 4 x M3x50mm bolts hold the two halves together.
- 12 6x3mm N52 axial disc magnets.
- Four small rubber inserts provide some damping for the fan mount. (TODO: Provide a pre-built midpanel.stl that doesn't need them.)

### Probably desired parts

(TODO: Need photos to identify)

- You _can_ just run the front USB cable through a gap in the back, but a small USB-A U adapter makes the fit much nicer
- Likewide, you can just run this case "upside down" with the PSU air inlet pointing upwards, but four little adhesive feet will let you use this case "right way up". I use some 18mm x 9mm domes, and there's templates provided for various sizes to help with positioning.
- The internal USB is a "Vention Usb Hub 3.2 10Gbps 4 Port Hub". ![Here's a photo](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/hafriedlander/bc250-case/main/images/vention_hub.png) This is about $US6 on AliExpress bundle deals.
- The internal WiFi is a Edup AX1672
- You'll want a couple of 20cm RP-SMA extensions to run the WiFi aerials to the outside
- The capacitive front switch needs a TTP223 switch, and a 10pF capacitor
- The LED strip is a 528 lpm 12V white SoC LED strip.

### Alternative parts

- If you want to use a 2.5" SSD, you'll need an NVME SATA adapter, and a short SATA cable
- If you're insane and want to waste money, you can add a PCIe 4 x NVME switch and a BE200 WiFi / Bluetooth adapter
- (Coming soon) and if you're really keen on burning money, you can add a circular LCD to the left sidepanel

### Optional parts

- Four silicon inserts plug the primary bolt holes

## Printing

Make sure your printer is calibrated and accurate with Calistar or similar - this is a large print with pretty tight tolerances.

Everything in the [out](out/) folder should be in the right orientation to print.

Most things don't need supports. The bridge on midpanel_back.stl might need supports as it's pretty long.

The three large pieces (top.stl, bottom.stl and midpanel.stl) need to be printed rotated 45° to fit on a 350x350 buildplate.

I print everything except the side panels and frontpanel insert in Siraya Tech Fibreheart ABS-GF filament. This is nice and stiff, and doesn't warp too much. The side panels I print in whatever ABS colour I want. The frontpanel insert _must_ be printed in non-filled filament or it won't transmit the light nicely.

You can experiment with other filament - I wouldn't use PLA though, airflow temps exceed the HDT of PLA, and liquid-phase cases are usually ineffective.

## Tweaking the model

I've included the scad source, but for now it's not enough to reproduce - I've used a bunch of utility functions from my other projects and a personal library that I currently haven't shared (I will though, eventually.)
