# Aeon Unity Tools

Small, one-off Unity helpers (MonoBehaviours + editor utilities) for common scene polish and workflow tasks, plus Blender scripts for turning AI-generated meshes into game-ready assets.

## What’s here

### Lighting & atmosphere
- `FireLightFlicker.cs`: Adds a natural flicker to point/spot lights (intensity, range, color).
- `GodRaysSpotlight.cs`: Procedurally generates a radial spotlight cookie and animates subtle rotation/flicker.
- `WindowGodRaysSpotlight.cs`: Generates straight, window-like beam cookies with animated noise breakup.

### Particles & ambience
- `AmbientDust.cs`: Preset-style particle system for indoor dust motes (soft particles + gentle drift).
- `SnowfallEffect.cs`: Configures a snowfall particle system with wind/turbulence.
- `ButterflyFlutter.cs`: Wandering/bobbing motion with optional wing flap animation for a butterfly.

### Audio
- `BackgroundMusic.cs`: Drop-in music player that configures an `AudioSource` and optionally auto-plays.

### NPCs & camera helpers
- `NPCHeadLookAt.cs`: Humanoid IK head/eyes look-at toward player or explicit target.
- `NPCWaypointRoamer.cs`: NavMeshAgent waypoint roaming with wait times + optional animator params.
- `LookAtTarget.cs`: Always-orient toward a target, with optional axis locks (Cinemachine sample namespace).

### Editor utilities
- `TexturePngConverter.cs`: Menu item to export a selected `Texture2D` as PNG.
- `GlbMaterialTexturePostProcess.cs`: Menu item to process a selected `.glb` asset, export textures, and create a URP/Lit material.

### Blender scripts (asset prep)
Python scripts for Blender that convert AI-generated high-poly meshes (e.g. Tripo, ~2M tris) into game-ready low-poly assets with baked textures. Usage for both: open in Blender's Text Editor, select one or more high-poly meshes, Run Script. Each source is hidden (not deleted) and the baked images are packed into the .blend, so save afterwards.

- `hp_to_lp_bake.py` (v1): The original pipeline. Voxel-remeshes the source to fuse the messy overlapping shells AI meshes are full of, drops loose debris, decimates to a triangle budget (default 39k), smooth-shades, Smart-UV-projects, then bakes 8K base color + tangent normal from the original mesh (tight-ray pass plus a long-ray fallback composited into missed texels). Output is a single `<name>_LP` object per source.
- `hp_to_lp_bake_v2.py`: Everything in v1 plus improvements driven by community feedback:
  - **LOD chain** — builds `<name>_LOD0..3` (default 39k/15k/5k/1.5k tris) under a `<name>` root empty; all LODs share the same baked textures, and Unity auto-creates a LODGroup from the name suffixes on import.
  - **Hidden-surface removal** — ray-tests each face for a line of sight to the outside and deletes sealed interior geometry before spending the triangle budget.
  - **Cleanup pass** — weld, degenerate dissolve, and limited dissolve to kill slivers after decimation.
  - **Baked AO** — a low-res ambient occlusion bake multiplied into the base color (no extra texture in engine).
  - **GLB export** (`EXPORT_DIR`) — writes an engine-ready `.glb` per source with textures downscaled at export time (default 4K, JPEG base color + PNG normal, ~20 MB vs ~110 MB); the full-res bake stays in the .blend.
  - **`ATLAS_MODE`** — all selected meshes share one UV layout, one material, and one texture set (fewer draw calls; good for prop sets).
  - **`QUAD_MODE`** — Quadriflow retopo instead of triangle decimation, for cleaner topology when the asset needs editing or deforming.

## Notes
- Most scripts are “drop-in”: add the component to a GameObject and tweak inspector fields.
- Editor utilities live under the Unity menu `Tools/` and operate on the current Project selection.
