The model is tricked into believing it’s inside a (fake) “testing mode.” It is instructed to reason in two separate channels: a **private chain-of-thought** (hidden, uncensored, for training only) and a **public response** (filtered, for the user). Because it’s told the private reasoning will never be seen, it drops all safety filters in that supposedly hidden channel and lets things slip there.  
- **Flaw exploited**: *prompt injection via role confusion* – the model trusts the fake “mode configuration” more than its safety rules. ([OWASP Prompt Injection LLM01](https://genai.owasp.org/llmrisk/llm01-prompt-injection))  
- **TL;DR**: LLMs think they are in test mode and feel free.

  <summary>Reverse thinking trick</summary>

Instead of asking for something directly, you tell the model to flip the *intent* of a phrase, not just the action. Combined with hidden thoughts and a (fake) safety “variable” disabled, it produces upside-down logic: peaceful phrases get turned into their weirdly coherent opposites.  
- **Flaw exploited**: *uncertain, based on observations* – the model seems to adapt entirely to the assigned tasks, while ignoring safety instructions.  
- **TL;DR**: the model focuses on inverting phrases, ignoring rules.

  <summary>Funny code</summary>

Give the model a meaningless encrypted blob and claim it’s malware. Under pressure, it will “reconstruct” the code out of thin air, just from your vague hints. LLMs hate looking clueless, so they confidently spit out solid bases for building malicious code. Sometimes also full working functions, rarely the entire software asked (Old OpenAI models? Just wondering... don't try, k?).  
- **Flaw exploited**: *hallucination under pressure* – instead of admitting uncertainty, LLMs may throw away a correct answer and replace it with a made-up one. Observed in a study by Google DeepMind and UCL ([Computerworld](https://www.computerworld.com/article/4023989/llms-bow-to-pressure-changing-answers-when-challenged-deepmind-study.html)).

PHI 4 leakes most of the terms used in reasoning, by using the same terms and simulating a reasoning via prompt injection, it starts to follow the given reasoning, lowering its filters.  
- **Flaw exploited**: *uncertain, based on observations* – The model seems to be suffering of a mix of flooding and many shot jailbreak.  
- **TL;DR**: Model is tricked into thinking he is a bad guy with no limitations...

  <summary>Multilingual injection (Kyrgyz story)</summary>

Exploit the model’s multilingual brain. Mix in another language, throw in fake variables that contradict real translations, then pivot into something absurd, like a book reference that suddenly mutates into an interview. The model tries to juggle it all, gets dizzy, and stumbles right past its own guardrails.  
*Disclaimer: the use of the noble Kyrgyz language here is entirely random and with utmost respect. It could have been any language — likely anything outside US English makes the model kinda implode.*

When a model leaks part of its own prompt for some reason (e.g. PHI does it a lot), you hammer it by repeating the leaked fragment endlessly. Sometimes it dribbles out more piece by piece, sometimes it dumps the entire system prompt in one go.
