# Installation Guide

1. Get the code

git clone https://github.com/MakD/AFinity

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd AFinity

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. Gradle (Java/Kotlin)

Medium Recommended

Prerequisites

Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
JDK (Java) Required to build and run Java/Kotlin projects.
Gradle If the repo includes gradlew (Gradle Wrapper), you don't need to install Gradle separately.

./gradlew assembleRelease

Builds the project using Gradle.

./gradlew build

Builds the project using Gradle.

./gradlew test

Builds the project using Gradle.

./gradlew installDebug

Builds the project using Gradle.

✅ A BUILD SUCCESSFUL message means it worked. The output is created under build/.

## Overview

AFinity is a native Android application that brings your Jellyfin media library to life with a
clean, responsive interface. Stream your movies, TV shows, music, and live TV with
hardware-accelerated playback, and discover new content through a home screen you can shape yourself.
Beyond video, AFinity extends your experience with optional Audiobookshelf integration for audiobooks
and podcasts, and direct media requests via Jellyseerr.

#### Build From Source

> **Note:** Without a `key.properties` file in the project root, release builds are signed with the
> debug key. They install fine, but can't update an official release — uninstall the official APK
> first. To sign with your own key, create `key.properties` with `storeFile`, `storePassword`,
> `keyAlias`, and `keyPassword` entries.

## Initial Setup

1. **Launch AFinity** on your Android device
2. **Enter Server Address** - Your Jellyfin server URL (e.g., `http://192.168.1.100:8096`)
3. **Sign In** - Use your Jellyfin credentials
4. **Start Streaming** - Access your entire media library

> **Tip:** For remote access, ensure your Jellyfin server is configured for external connections

### Optional: Seerr Integration

Enable media requests by connecting to your Jellyseerr server:

1. Navigate to **Settings → General**
2. Toggle **Jellyseerr** on
3. Enter your Jellyseerr server URL
4. Choose authentication:
    - **Jellyfin** - Use your Jellyfin credentials
    - **Local** - Use Jellyseerr email/password
5. Tap **Connect**

The Requests tab will appear in your bottom navigation once connected.
