A web browser for Pebble Time 2 (emery) and Pebble Round 2 (gabbro).

> **Android only.** The page is laid out by PebbleKit JS on the phone, which on
> Android runs inside a Chromium WebView with a full DOM. iOS runs PebbleKit JS
> in bare JavaScriptCore — no `document`, no `DOMParser`, no `fetch` — so the
> layout step has nowhere to run and the app cannot work there yet. Closing that
> gap needs an offscreen `WKWebView` exposed to PebbleKit JS by CoreApp, which is
> the same change that would give both platforms real origins and cookies.

The phone lays the page out and the watch draws it. There is no layout engine on
the watch and no rendering server anywhere: on Android, PKJS runs inside a
Chromium WebView, so `renderer.js` loads the page in an offscreen iframe at the
watch's own width, reads real geometry back with `Range.getClientRects()`, and
ships a display list of positioned text runs, link rectangles, colours and
images. The watch blits them.

Scrolling, fling and hit-testing are local, so only navigation costs a round
trip. A typical page is 5–20 KB on the wire.

## Install

[**Download the latest .pbw**](https://github.com/coredevices/browser-app/releases/latest) and sideload it with CoreApp on Android. Bookmarks are editable from the app's settings page.

## Building

`waf` will serve a stale `pebble-js-app.js`; delete it before an install you
intend to trust.

Running against a PebbleOS QEMU emulator instead of hardware is documented in

`src/c/dl.h` and `src/pkjs/dl.js` are two halves of one wire format; change them
together.

## What works

Server-rendered text sites, images, links, dictated search, GET forms, history,
and pages taller than the 16-bit coordinate space (split into segments the watch
pulls as it scrolls).

## What does not

Client-rendered apps whose content arrives after boot: page JS runs in a
sandboxed frame with no direct network, and giving it one means
`allow-scripts` plus `allow-same-origin` on a `file://` parent, which is a
sandbox escape. POST forms need a session the watch link cannot carry. Very long
reference pages are reachable but slow — Wikipedia's "World War II" is 318 KB.
