# Installation Guide

1. Get the code

git clone https://github.com/firegento/magento-performance-tweaks

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd magento-performance-tweaks

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. PHP (Composer)

Easy Recommended

Prerequisites

Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
PHP A PHP runtime is required.
Composer The package manager used to install PHP libraries.

composer install

Installs the PHP libraries listed in composer.json.

✅ Run it with a built-in server like php -S localhost:8000, then open http://localhost:8000 in your browser.

Drawbacks
---------

This extension disables visitor logs and directly impacts **product compare and recently viewed** feature.
Possible symptoms:
- Not logged in users cannot use compare
- Logged in users share the whole compare table

**Layout**

CAUTION: Widgets based on category id and product id handles WILL NOT WORK as Entity_id [layout handles will be removed](https://github.com/firegento/magento-performance-tweaks/blob/master/app/code/community/FireGento/PerformanceTweaks/Model/Observer.php#L28)

SOLUTION: Use "custom layout update xml" attribute on entity level instead!
