# Installation Guide

1. Get the code

git clone https://github.com/jexpe-apps/jexpe

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd jexpe

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. Node.js

Easy Recommended

Prerequisites

Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
Node.js Node.js must be installed to use npm. The LTS version is recommended.

yarn install

Downloads and installs the libraries listed in package.json.

yarn prepare

Type this command into your terminal and run it.

yarn tauri dev

Type this command into your terminal and run it.

✅ After running the command, open the address shown in the terminal (usually something like http://localhost:3000) in your browser.

3. Rust

Medium

Prerequisites

Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
Rust (rustup) Installing via rustup also installs cargo.

cd src-tauri

This project's files live in a subfolder, so move into it first.

cargo build --release

Compiles the Rust project.

cargo run

Builds and then immediately runs the program.

✅ If cargo build finishes without errors, it worked. The executable is created under target/.

## Getting Started

Our stack is based on [Tauri](https://tauri.app/v1/guides/getting-started/prerequisites) and [NextJS](https://nextjs.org/docs/getting-started) please follow following their installation steps before continuing. We use [Yarn](https://yarnpkg.com/getting-started/install) as package manager, so follow his installation steps too.

# Install all the dependencies listed within package.json
yarn install

# To be sure of using basic linting and formatting rules, subscribe to git-hooks
yarn prepare

# You are ready to start the development environment
yarn tauri dev
```
