# CDN으로 사용하기

Displays customizable telegraph decals on certain surfaces (also known in some games as AoE indicators, area of effect markers, or combat cues). Each indicator is constructed from one or more primitive shapes (box, cylinder, sphere) in a similar way to constructive solid geometry (union, intersection, subtraction).

## Getting started

1. **Add the manager** to your scene: add a `ConTelegraphManager` node. It runs the per-frame update loop.
2. **Create a telegraph** by adding a `ConTelegraphInstance3D` as a child of anything in the scene. Give it at least one `ConTelegraphArea3D` child to define a shape.
3. **Assign a family** resource (`ConTelegraphFamily`) to your telegraph instance. It controls visual style (colors, outlines, noise effects, and patterns).
4. **Set up the surface overlay.** Slap that `con_telegraph_next_pass.tres` material into the next pass (or material overlay) slot on any meshes you want to display your telegraph decals on (terrain, floors). Leave it off any you don't (characters, water, etc).
5. **Run the scene.** The telegraph animates through fill progress and displays on the overlay surfaces.

## Architecture

Telegraphs are rendered as **signed-distance fields evaluated in the fragment shader** of the overlay mesh. Per-frame, the `ConTelegraphManager` serializes visible telegraph data into a tiny texture (using RGB32F format so that floats can be stored with no color space conversion). The texture acts as a data transfer bus, passed as a single uniform to the shader. The shader reads this texture via `texelFetch` to reconstruct the SDF scene at each fragment.

This approach avoids uniform buffer size limits (see [godot#55674](https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/55674), [godot#85374](https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/85374#issuecomment-2140795358)) and works across all renderers (Forward+, Mobile, Compatibility) without compute shaders, storage buffers, or multi-pass rendering.

The single-pixel outline works by evaluating the signed-distance field at the four adjacent pixel positions (obtained via `dFdx`/`dFdy` in world space). If the signs differ among neighbors, the fragment is on a shape boundary and receives the outline color, all without a screen-space pass.

Godot's built-in Decal nodes use planar projection along a single axis, which distorts on steep or curved terrain and can't constructively combine shapes. By contrast, this plugin evaluates the telegraph's signed-distance field at each fragment's exact world-space position, so it conforms to any surface - like rolling hills or stairs - without projection artifacts or UV mapping, and supports CSG-like boolean composition of multiple shapes.
