# Cursed Relic (Eluna Lua Module)

A highly interactive and dynamic "Cursed Item" module for World of Warcraft emulators (3.3.5a) powered by the Eluna Lua Engine. This script introduces a cursed relic that haunts your server, forcing players to deal with severe debuffs and dynamically passing from player to player.

## 🔮 Features

- **Unescapable Curse**: The item cannot be deleted, traded, mailed, or auctioned. If a player attempts to drag the item out of their bags to delete it, the server instantly detects the missing item and forces it back into their inventory with a spooky warning.
- **Dynamic Debuffs**: Whoever holds the item suffers from three permanent debuffs that re-apply automatically. The script randomly selects one debuff from each of the 3 categories (yielding a unique combination each time the item is acquired):
  - **1. Curses**: Curse of Tongues (Slower casting), Curse of Exhaustion (Slow), or Curse of Weakness (Lower AP).
  - **2. Magic**: Faerie Fire (Lower Armor), Earth and Moon (Magic Vulnerability), or Hunter's Mark.
- **Mental Corruption (Yells & Drunk)**: The relic tears at the player's sanity. Periodically, the cursed player will involuntarily YELL out one of 10 terrifying phrases to everyone nearby (e.g., *"Help me... it's tearing my mind apart!"*), and occasionally their screen will violently blur as they suffer a 5-second intense "Drunk" effect.
- **Visual Stigma (Permanent Curse)**: The cursed player is permanently marked with the Curse of Exhaustion visual effect (a dark swirling vortex at their feet), ensuring everyone in the zone knows they are diseased and cursed!
- **Stages of Madness (Skeleton Transformation)**: If a player holds the cursed relic for exactly 1 hour (3600 seconds), their body gives out to the corruption, permanently morphing them into an undead Skeleton until they die or are cured.
- **Death Transfer**: The only way to rid yourself of the curse is to die. Upon death, the item is removed and a custom "Cursed Corpse Chest" is spawned at your corpse. The chest lasts for 10 minutes, waiting for another unfortunate soul to loot it.
- **The "Haunting" Mechanic**: If the spawned chest despawns after 10 minutes without being looted, or if a player dies in an Arena/Battleground where chests cannot be spawned, the item becomes "Lost in the Aether". The very next time *any* player on the server loots *any* item (from a mob, a chest, or a gathering node), the Cursed Relic is secretly injected into their inventory, and the cycle begins anew!
- **The Cleansing Scroll (Cure Item)**: While the curse is active, there is a very rare 1% chance on all loots server-wide for a unique tradable item called `The Cleansing Scroll` (990003) to drop for an innocent player. This player can either sell the scroll to the cursed victim, or cast it on them to break the curse, destroy the relic, and reset the cycle.
- **Faction-Specific Config (Optional)**: By default, the script has `CONFIG_SEPARATE_FACTIONS = true`, which creates **two entirely separate curses**—one for the Alliance and one for the Horde. If set to false, only one single Cursed Relic exists globally.
- **GM Tracking System & Leaderboard**: Game Masters can type `#curse` or `#curse status` in chat at any time to receive a live global report on the item's whereabouts. Additionally, the module automatically tracks every player in the `custom_cursed_leaderboard` database table, recording how many times they've been cursed, how many times they died, and their total time held in seconds.

## ⚙️ Installation

1. Execute `CursedItem.sql` and `CursedItem_Cure.sql` in your **World** database. This will create the custom items (990001, 990003) and the custom gameobject (990002).
2. Place `CursedItem.lua` inside your `lua_scripts` folder.
3. (Optional but Required for Tooltips) Create a custom patch for your players so they don't see a red "?" icon for the items. Otherwise, the script will still work perfectly on the server side, but the client will show a question mark.

## ⚠️ Important Note: The Red Question Mark (?)

Because this is a completely custom item (`990001`) added directly to the database, **the item will appear as a red Question Mark (?) in the player's inventory**.

This is standard behavior for World of Warcraft clients. The server knows exactly what the item is and the script will function flawlessly, but the client does not have the icon cached.

To fix this visual issue and display a proper icon, you must create a custom client patch (`patch-enUS-4.mpq` etc.) containing an updated `Item.dbc` file and distribute it to your players. If you don't want to deal with client patches, you can simply ignore the question mark—the curse will still work perfectly!

## 🔧 Configuration

You can easily modify the spell, item, and chest IDs at the top of the `CursedItem.lua` file to match your server's database layout:
