## Background

Qwen3.8-Flash-Next is the preview of the Qwen4 architecture (180B-parameter hybrid MoE, 512 experts with top-10 routing, GDN linear attention + QSA sparse attention + a 51B PLE n-gram lookup table, 262K native context).
The official validation environment is dual GB300/B300; this repo proves **a single DGX Spark can deploy its quantized version**.

This repo documents and open-sources all tools and measurements for deploying it on **a single NVIDIA DGX Spark (GB10, 128 GB unified memory)** — including the current pain point (missing MTP) and its solution.

### probe_mtp.py — can your GGUF speculate?
Speculative decoding (draft-mtp) requires the GGUF to contain an MTP head. unsloth stripped it from the Flash-Next quants (180B → 176.94B params), while the 27B GGUF keeps it. Check in 3 seconds:

### monitor.py — watch for new versions
Dual-channel HF scan (official quantized tag + name search), auto-classified as
`DEPLOYABLE / UPLOADING / TOO_BIG / MLX_ONLY / Q1_BAD`, plus llama.cpp PR status.

## Known findings

1. ** Speculative decoding fully unlocked (2026-08-27~28)**: ngram-map-k4v gives a free 3.4×
 on code-type tasks (84.2 t/s); **MTP + map-k4v stacked reaches 4.3× (108.4 t/s)**; prose ~26-29 t/s
 (gain = output predictability). **Concurrency works**: `--parallel 2` measured safe — 93-104 t/s
 aggregate at 8K, 77.5 at 262K, 0 assert crashes (corrects 0xBakeer's report). The old
 "24 t/s ceiling" finding is obsolete — see docs/speculative-analysis.md.
2. **Start background services with setsid**: prevents the terminal timeout from killing the service along with the command.
3. **Open the context boldly**: QSA sparse KV keeps the 262K memory cost to a few GB; but **large windows slow down short-prompt processing** (36.5 vs 80.8 tok/s at 262K vs 128K) — use 128K for short conversations.
4. **Memory-safety rules**: only one model resident at a time; the cafe-llama.cpp fork OOM'd twice (permanently abandoned); system watchdog (system_watchdog.sh, 5GB/5s) auto-starts via crontab @reboot.
