# 🏥 Secure Hospital Information System (Professional Edition)

## 🚀 Project Overview

This is a proof-of-concept **Hospital Information System (HIS)** designed to demonstrate **Advanced Data-Level Encryption**. Unlike traditional systems that rely solely on disk encryption, this system encrypts specific sensitive fields (Diagnoses, Prescriptions) within the application layer before they ever reach the database.

### Core Security Philosophy
1.  **Dashboards are NOT Encrypted**: Operational data (Names, Bed #) is readable for workflow efficiency.
2.  **Databases ARE Encrypted**: Sensitive medical data is stored as ciphertext (`gAAAAAB...`).
3.  **Just-In-Time Decryption**: Doctors unlock records for 5 minutes only. All access is logged.

-   **Database**: SQLite (Production-ready for Postgres/MySQL via Config)
-   **Security**: `cryptography` (Fernet/AES-256), `Flask-JWT-Extended`
-   **Frontend**: Professional CSS Design System (Inter Typography, Glassmorphism)
-   **Logging**: Python `logging` module with Audit Trails

## ⚡ Key Features (Demo Guide)

### 1. 🛡️ Post-Breach Protection (The "Hacker View")
Simulate a data breach by visiting the **Hacker View**.
-   **URL**: `/hacker_view`
-   **Proof**: See raw database rows where sensitive columns are unreadable ciphertext.

### 2. 👨‍⚕️ Doctor's "Just-In-Time" Access
-   Login as `drsmith`.
-   Navigate to a patient.
-   Click **"Decrypt for 5 Minutes"**.
-   **Observe**: The encrypted fields strictly decrypt in memory and auto-lock after the timer.

### 3. 📝 Immutable Audit Logs
-   Login as `admin`.
-   View the **Admin Dashboard**.
-   **Proof**: Every decryption event is permanently logged with timestamp and user ID.

## 🏁 Quick Start

1.  **Install Dependencies**
    ```bash
    pip install -r requirements.txt
    ```

2.  **Initialize & Mock Data**
    ```bash
    python seed_db.py
    ```

3.  **Launch Application**

    python app.py
