## About Spandhika Orthotics

**Spandhika Orthotics Private Limited** is a MedTech startup based in Himachal Pradesh, India, building continuous, affordable foot-health monitoring for a country where clinical-grade gait and pressure diagnostics have historically been confined to a handful of tertiary hospitals.

Our flagship product, **SAARTHI** (internally developed as **IOLMS** — Intelligent Orthotic & Leg Monitoring System), is a smart insole embedded with a 32-node pressure sensor array and a 9-axis motion sensor. It maps plantar pressure and gait in real time, at home, in regular footwear — closing the gap between infrequent clinic visits and the daily reality of how a patient actually walks.

We work at the intersection of diabetic foot care, post-surgical rehabilitation, and elderly fall prevention — three of the largest and most under-monitored patient populations in Indian healthcare.

## Clinical & Research Foundation

SAARTHI/IOLMS is built on a peer-reviewed evidence base rather than a novel, unvalidated approach:

- Continuous plantar pressure monitoring is explicitly recommended by the **IWGDF (International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot) 2023 Guidelines** for high-risk diabetic foot patients.
- A randomised controlled trial (Abbott et al., *Lancet Digital Health*, 2019) found that continuous pressure monitoring with real-time feedback substantially reduced diabetic foot ulcer recurrence compared to standard care.
- Independent research has shown that ambulatory gait monitoring detects clinically significant changes in gait and stride variability weeks before they would be caught at a scheduled clinic visit — relevant to both fall prevention in the elderly and post-surgical recovery tracking.
