# SysPulse

SysPulse is a native macOS menu bar system monitor for Apple Silicon Macs. It is built with Swift, SwiftUI, AppKit where needed, and a provider-based metrics layer so unsupported hardware data can degrade honestly instead of showing fake values.

## Current State

- Native Swift Package with `SysPulseCore`, `SysPulseHistory`, `SysPulsePlatform`, `SysPulseApp`, `SysPulseHelper`, and read-only `SysPulseHelperXPC` targets.
- SwiftUI `MenuBarExtra` app with a compact dashboard, configurable menu bar label, optional AppKit independent status items, settings window, module toggles, refresh interval, and launch-at-login control.
- Apple Silicon provider implementations for system overview, CPU, memory, disk capacity, network throughput, battery level/health, CPU/memory process ranking with optional executable paths, and GPU device discovery.
- Disk read/write activity, network interface details, CoreWLAN Wi-Fi metadata when macOS permits it, split CPU/memory process ranking rows with expandable details, built-in alert rules, local notification delivery when authorized, single/independent menu bar item modes, menu bar icon/primary/combined text modes, per-metric detail-popover history trends, SQLite-backed local history persistence with sleep-gap events, temperature/network unit preferences, storage health and Bluetooth device fallback rows, and JSON configuration import/export.
- Menu bar CPU, memory, and network metrics refresh at the configured interval, while slow-changing base data and heavier metrics such as process ranking, sensors, fans, GPU, storage health, and Bluetooth device battery use cached or dashboard-only refresh paths to reduce background cost.
- Sensor and fan features currently return `requiresHelper`; Helper targets expose a typed status/request/response contract, an embedded read-only XPC service, and an app-side status client until privileged commands and per-model SMC/IOReport validation are completed.
- Release automation includes a dry-run capable Developer ID archive script; real signing and notarization still require the user's own certificate and notarytool keychain profile.
- Documentation is maintained under [`docs`](docs), including the requirement coverage matrix at [`docs/traceability.md`](docs/traceability.md).
