# OpenDAB

OpenDAB is an open-source web-based music player powered by the DAB Music Player API.  
It aims to offer a clean, fast, and user-friendly interface for streaming, exploring, and managing music.  
Contributions are welcome from developers, designers, and music lovers.

## DAB API Reference

OpenDAB uses the DAB Music Player API. The documentation is available at:

Some of the key endpoints include:

| Endpoint               | Purpose                                           |

| `GET /artists`         | List all artists                                  |
| `GET /artists/{id}`    | Fetch details for a specific artist              |
| `GET /albums`          | List all albums                                   |
| `GET /albums/{id}`     | Fetch album details (e.g. tracks, cover art)      |
| `GET /tracks/{id}`     | Fetch details for a specific track (stream URL)   |

## Getting Started

### Prerequisites

- Node.js (>= 18)  
- npm or yarn package manager

## Architecture

- Frontend: Web application (React / Vue / Svelte / other )  
- API layer: consumes the DAB Music Player API for data (artists, albums, tracks, search)  
- Audio streaming directly via URLs provided by the API

3. Make your changes  
4. Add or update tests where relevant

We are starting completely from scratch. Nothing has been coded yet.  
The roadmap is simple: **start building right now**.

- Implement search, browsing, and playback features  
- Add playlists and user features later

Everyone is encouraged to contribute at any stage. Let's build this together.
