# Installation Guide

1. Get the code

git clone https://github.com/yuanqing/figma-plugins-stats

Downloads the entire project code from GitHub to your computer.

cd figma-plugins-stats

Moves into the project folder you just downloaded.

2. Node.js

Easy Recommended

Prerequisites

Git Needed to download the project code from GitHub.
Node.js Node.js must be installed to use npm. The LTS version is recommended.

$ npm install --global figma-plugins-stats

Downloads and installs the libraries listed in package.json.

✅ After running the command, open the address shown in the terminal (usually something like http://localhost:3000) in your browser.

*N.B.* Figma Plugin Stats is not official software by Figma. It relies on Figma’s internal APIs, which may break or become unavailable at any time.

## Quick start

*Requires [Node.js](https://nodejs.org/).*

To get the plugin stats for a particular plugin publisher, enter `npx --yes -- figma-plugins-stats` followed by a [profile handle](https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038510833--Create-a-Community-Profile#Creator_profiles):

In the above example, for the plugin `Clean Document`, we see that:

- `75,926` is the current install count.
- `397` is the increase in install count over the 7-day period.
- The [sparkline](https://www.edwardtufte.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=0001OR) (`▆▇█▅▁`) shows the trend in the increase in install count over the period.

By default, the historical time period is 7 days.

- Set this using the `--time` flag. For example: `--time 7d`, `--time 2w`.
- *N.B.* Historical data goes back to 1 April 2020 at the most.

By default, plugins are sorted in descending order of the increase in run count.

- Set this using the `--sort` flag. For example: `--sort publisher`, `--sort name`, `--sort installs`, `--sort installs-delta`, `--sort likes`, `--sort likes-delta`, `--sort runs`, `--sort runs-delta`, `--sort views`, `--sort views-delta`.

Omit the profile handle to get the stats for *all* Figma plugins:

Returns a Promise for an array of objects that each have the following keys:

## Implementation details

A snapshot of the stats for all Figma plugins is taken everyday at approximately 6 AM UTC+0, [via a GitHub action](.github/workflows/scrape.yml). (The first snapshot was taken on 1 April 2020.) Each snapshot is stored as a JSON file and [served on GitHub pages](https://github.com/yuanqing/figma-plugins-stats/tree/gh-pages). Historical data surfaced in the CLI is backed by these snapshots.
